Domains Overview
There are three kinds of “domains” that can be created via the SiteWorx website management interface.
Pointer Domains
Pointer Domains, sometimes called Parked Domains, can be set up to point other domains to this SiteWorx account. A common example is if you have a SiteWorx account with master domain mydomain.com, you could then create pointer domains for mydomain.net, mydomain.org, etc, or any other domain you want to point to the same website as mydomain.com. Pointer domains also “point” e-mail addresses at the pointer domain to the master domain accounts. So, if you create mydomain.org as a pointer domain to mydomain.com, mail sent to postmaster@mydomain.org will be delivered to the postmaster@mydomain.com e-mail box.
Subdomains
Subdomains are domains of the form sub.mydomain.com. They point to the mydomain.com/sub folder when they are created.
Secondary Domains
Secondary Domains are “full-fledged” domains, that are not attached to the master domain in any way except that the feature limits are shared between the master domain and secondary domains. This means that if a SiteWorx account has the ability to create 10 e-mail boxes, the master domain could have 5 e-mail boxes, and a secondary domain could also have 5 e-mail boxes, and that would be the limit for these accounts. Secondary domains have their own statistics pages, bandwidth recording, and web space.
