How To Enable/Disable The SSH Root Login
Prerequisites

InterWorx 3.0.1 or later
Purpose
The following procedure explains how to Enable/Disable the ability of the root user to log on via SSH.
| If Root login is disabled, an asministrator must log into the system as another user and SU or Sudo to the root user. |
Procedure - Enable Root Login
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ♦ SSH Server item.
- You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
- Locate the SSH Server Options section.
- Locate the line: Allow Root Login: .
- Select Yes from the dropdown menu next to it.
- The page will reload and the RRD graph for the SSH server will appear at the top of the page.
<note tip> Like all RRD graphs, the info in the graph will start at the time that you started the graphing because that is when the system begam compiling the data to generate the graph. No RRD graph info will exist for the time when the graphing is disabled.</tip>
Procedure - Disable Root Login
- Click on the menu if it is not already expanded.
- Click on the ♦ SSH Server item.
- You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
- Locate the SSH Server Options section.
- Locate the line: Allow Root Login:
- Select No from the dropdown menu next to it.
- The page will reload and the RRD graph for the SSH server will disappear from the top of the page.
