How To: Change General SSHd Settings

Purpose

The following procedure explains how to change some common SSSd settings

Procedure - Set the SSH Login Timeout

  1. Click on the System Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    SSH Server item.
  3. You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the SSH Server Options: section.
  5. Locate the line: Login Timeout .
  6. Select Type the number of minutes you want in the space provided (default is 120).
  7. Press the Update button.
  8. The page will reload and the new setting will be active.

Procedure - Set the SSH Loglevel

  1. Click on the System Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    SSH Server item.
  3. You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the SSH Server Options section.
  5. Locate the line: Loglevel:
  6. Select the option you want from the dropdown menu next to it.
  7. Press the Update button.
  8. The page will reload and the new setting will be active.

Procedure - Enable Privilege Separation

  1. Click on the System Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    SSH Server item.
  3. You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the SSH Server Options section.
  5. Locate the line: Privilege Separation:
  6. Select Yes from the dropdown menu next to it.
  7. Press the Update button.
  8. The page will reload and the new setting will be active.

Procedure - Disable Privilege Separation

  1. Click on the System Services menu if it is not already expanded.
  2. Click on the ♦    SSH Server item.
  3. You should now be looking at the SSH Server Management controls in the main content area.
  4. Locate the SSH Server Options section.
  5. Locate the line: Allow Root Login:
  6. Select No from the dropdown menu next to it.
  7. Press the Update button.
  8. The page will reload and the new setting will be active.
