How To Stop and Start Freshclam

The stop and start procedures that follow assume that SMTP virus scanning is enabled. For more information on enabling SMTP virus scanning check out How to Enable SMTP Virus Scanning.

The following procedures explain how to use InterWorx-CP to stop and start Freshclam. Freshclam is the automatic virus definition update service used by ClamAV. If this is enabled, ClamAV will always have the most recent virus definitions.

1. Click on the System Services menu if it is not already expanded.
2. Click on the ♦    Mail Server submenu if it is not already expanded.
3. Click on the      ◊    Virus Filtering item.
4. You should now be looking at the Mail Server Management :: Virus Filter Settings controls in the main content area.
5. Locate the Freshclam control section.
6. Click the Stop button.
7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » Service successfully stopped.
8. The Freshclam status field will change from Running to Stopped.

4. You should now be looking at the Mail Server Management :: Virus Filter Settings controls in the main content area.
5. Locate the Freshclam control section.
6. Click the Start button.
7. You will see the following message at the top of the screen: » Service successfully started.
8. The Freshclam status field will change from Stopped to Running.
